LIFESTYLE NEWBORN SESSION DETAILS
BEFORE WE GET STARTED PLANNING YOUR NEWBORN SESSION… let’s discuss what you’re wanting to get out of it. There are a couple different ways a newborn session can go. If you’re wanting images documenting the true moments of your family during those “blurry” first few weeks, then I’m most definitely the photographer for you. I love capturing those true moments and emotions within a family when a new baby is welcomed home. Telling a story through images by capturing the full picture down to the tiny details, is so important to me. I won’t be focusing on props and unnatural poses, but more on you and your baby connecting in your home. If you’re looking more for a posed image (for example, babies curled up on a backdrop or tucked in baskets with a lot of props), then I’m probably not the best fit to photograph your family. If its a studio/posed session that you’re looking for, I will happily recommend some photographers who excel at that. If you think the lifestyle, natural feel is for you, then let’s get it booked!
NOW THAT WE’VE MADE THAT DECISION… there’s no better place to create precious memories than a home filled with the love and excitement of a brand new baby. I have found that the comfort level of both the parents and new baby tends to be much more relaxed in their own environment. Not to mention, you’ve spent so much time and effort perfecting baby’s nursery that it would be downright pity not to capture those details in print.
I like to allow the session to unfold naturally which yields images full of raw, genuine emotion. I may help Mom and Dad get comfortable on the sofa, and get them into a position that looks natural. No “smile” or “say cheese”, in fact very few shots include direct eye contact, as as to let the session flow like a story.
Years from now, Mom and Dad will look at these photos, and be reminded of the sweetness of their newborn baby, those first cuddles, and their tender emotions. It may just be a short story of one lovely day, but it’s a story that will be treasured for a lifetime.
